When Christian Met Oksana

OB: I think what I’m wearing right now is really “in.” I see a lot of fashion. I saw dresses with big shoulders, like from the ’80s, in the last Armani and Balmain collections—Christian, you can interrupt me if I sound incompetent! Some of these designers, if I try the clothes it seems as if they make them just for the hangers! In this dress I feel very feminine. Everything is in the right place. This number is actually covering my weak spots and showing my best spots, like my back. That’s what it’s all about.
Christian, do you remember Oksana winning in Lillehammer?
CC: Of course! How could you not? I get inspired by Oksana and figure skaters, because there’s so much movement with this delicate grace.
Aside from watching Oksana’s win, what’s your favorite figure skating moment?
OB: Say it’s when I added an extra jump at the end of my program to win the gold in ’94!
CC: Okay, that’s my favorite moment! You and that extra jump!
Vera Wang has designed for tons of figure skaters. Is that in your future, Christian?
CC: Now that I’m thinking about it, I’d like to. I’ve dressed ballerinas before, but this is the first time I’ve worked with a skater. It’s a great direction to take.
