What I Bought! With Marie Claire's Kyle Anderson
Patrick McMullan View Gallery
(NEW YORK) Marie Claire's accessories director Kyle Anderson is on a roll! Last weekend, the shop-tastic ed plunked down the big bucks ($4,682.40, to be exact) during his recent retail adventures. Prada: $1,650. Burberry: $2,720. It's a tough task, but somebody has to do it! And just in case you haven't been keeping track (lies!), Anderson has spent $50,026.32 on his Saturday-Sunday jaunts since November. You do the math...
I don't really go to Soho often, but the Prada store on Fifth Avenue told me that a shirt I wanted—"the only one in the country"—was downtown in my size so I trekked there to buy it. (In Zurich, they told me every store had it in multiples when I couldn’t decide if I wanted to get it or not.) I know it seems like there is a lot of Prada going on here, but I’m the kind of person that gets obsessed with something to death and then moves on to the next thing. Maybe that's good? Anyway, this gem is a button-down shirt with studs and jewels. I know what you're going to say, and yes, I have three versions of the shirt now but I love them! I hope my boyfriend likes them, too, because next fall he will be inheriting a lot of sparkly Prada stuff.
SHOPPING, PRADA: $1,650
Afterwards, I met my friend for dinner at The Standard Grill. I had gone earlier in the week and I had fun, so I’m back! I ordered a lamb dinner and two Bloody Mary's, which is my favorite drink right now. Maybe the Dark 'n' Stormy will be back for summer? We split the bill, and I took a taxi home. I had this new chocolate chip molten lava cake from Trader Joe's. They are frozen, and they are amazing! It’s like a warm chocolate chip cookie with melted fudge inside. Yum!
DINNER, THE STANDARD GRILL, $75
DESSERT, TRADER JOE'S: $43
Lazy day...my friend came over, and we watched some episodes of Downton Abbey. OK, fine: We watched 11 episodes. I hadn’t seen it before, and it was raining outside. Then we made a Starbucks run across the street and ordered Thai food from somewhere in my neighborhood. Then it was time to burn off the calories! I hit the gym for an hour and went back to Starbucks for an iced coffee before going to dinner at night with my boyfriend. We went to Hillstone because we didn't go last weekend when we'd planned on it. It’s so good! I haven’t been back for about six months. I ate a veggie burger and a coke, and I didn't have to pick up the check.
COFFEE, STARBUCKS: $11.50
LUNCH, THAI: $25
I slept in and made my way over to Bar Americain on 52nd Street with my friend and her parents for brunch. I had another Bloody Mary and a chicken pot pie. It was so good! Post-brunch, I went to the office and worked for a few hours. I walked to Bergdorf Goodman and got my haircut at the John Barrett Salon. Then it was off to Burberry to buy a coat with a raffia collar. I had seen it at a press preview and thought it was cute. Also, I’ve been obsessed with military green my whole life. It’s pretty cool, and I know I’ll wear it a million times. After I walked home, I took a much-needed nap. When I woke up, I watched a couple more episodes of Downton Abbey and the new episode of Mad Men. My boyfriend made pasta for dinner, and I had another Trader Joe's chocolate chip lava cake. The perfect way to end the weekend!
HAIRCUT, JOHN BARRETT SALON: $150
SHOPPING, BURBERRY: $2,720
