Stefano and Karla, Together Again
(NEW YORK) Attention, W staffers: it appears that another day of reckoning is upon vous. Exactly a week after Stefano Tonchi let go six staffers, including deputy editor Julie Belcove, he has made more high-level moves, appointing Karla Martinez as W's new market director. Treena Lombardo, who formerly held that position, will be leaving the magazine, as will W's jewelry and accessories director Brooke Magnaghi. Martinez is joining the title from Interview, where she has served as market director since August 2009. Prior to that, she held that same position for the women's market at T, Tonchi's old stomping grounds.
Interestingly, Tonchi's most recent changes affect the second tier of his fashion department; fashion director Alex White still remains in her position and is rumored to be shooting stories for W's September Issue----which should ship around a month from now. Clearly, Tonchi's entire team has not yet been built, so as his new creative and design directors scramble to finish the redesign, it appears that September will still feature plenty of work from the old guard. The world is waiting!
