Spring 2012: Alberta Ferretti
(MILAN) Alberta Ferretti
Alberta Ferretti echoed the tropical storm seen stomping down the runways in New York and London—and she didn’t stop there. The seasoned designer showcased an amalgamation of Spring trends from sheer cutouts to Jazz Age fringe in a cohesive urban jungle lineup. Opening the show was a fluttery white day dress with peek-a-boo geometric cutouts that got repeated on coral suiting and hot pink shifts, growing more complex and tribal as the show progressed. Heat-wave prints, like muted palm-fronds or psychedelic floral, held their own on easy separates. However, it was the quietly impressive hippie-deluxe chiffon eveningwear, with souped-up crochet and hand-beading, that stole the show—a testament to Ferretti’s ultra-femme touch.
