Shopbop Gears Up For Men's Site Launch
(NEW YORK) Next year, Shopbop is tackling the wardrobes of its female customers' beaus, male pals, brothers, and sons, with the launch of a standalone men's site. Expect the blokes to join the Shopbop fray come late 2013, with an interface said to mimic the vibe of Shopbop's original site, when the e-tailer launched in Madison, Wisc. circa 2000. Purchased by Amazon six years ago, Shopbop is carrying over some of the customer service touches from its original site to the guys' version, such as 24/7 customer service, videos and large-scaled shots of the product on offer, shop-in-shops, plus gratis global three-day shipping as well as domestic returns. Other features include a comprehensive site in Mandarin plus customized emails about product arrivals and recommendations. For now, Shopbop's current staff will source the men's threads (as well as shoes and accessories), though a dedicated set of buyers for the new site is in the process of being hired.
