Sam Shaffer Joins Ebay as Senior Business Development Manager
(NEW YORK) Sam Shaffer has been named senior business development manager for Ebay Fashion at Ebay, the San Jose, California-based ecommerce giant. Today is Shaffer’s last day in his role as director, designers and brands, at IMG, parent company of The Daily.
Shaffer joined IMG in 2006 after a successful stint running his own production company, Spot On. He also famously owned and operated Serena, the popular Chelsea Hotel nightclub. At IMG, his responsibilities focused on negotiating strategic partnerships between independent designers and commercial brands, where he developed a reputation for identifying young talent with the potential to grow business. From his first challenge of orchestrating Fashion Week Live to a more recent task of convincing the DSquared2 designers to drive down a runway at a Mercedes-Benz-sponsored show in Moscow, Shaffer’s duties at IMG often resulted in some of Fashion Week’s more memorable moments.
In his next role at Ebay, a newly-created position based in New York, Shaffer aims to grow the site’s presence in the high fashion sector by negotiating partnerships with those designers. No doubt his flair for collaboration will result in plenty of e-com panache. Designers, check your Blackberries…
