Runway Reviews: Jen Kao
(NEW YORK) Jen Kao
A run of show notes referencing Moby Dick may have left her attendees a little confused when the show opened with clingy, micro-mini knit dresses, but Jen Kao’s collection didn’t suffer from a puzzling concept. Kao knows her market—and she delivered a lineup covetable by hipster It-girls like Becka Diamond, Harley Viera-Newton and Julia Restoin-Roitfeld, all of whom held court in her front row. Kao revisited her signature geometric paneling on minis, but upped the luxe factor with rich colors like oxblood and jade, leather panels, and a smattering of plush fur toppers. Adding to the must-have quotient? Jewelry by Kao’s frequent collaborator, jeweler du jour Eddie Borgo.
