(PARIS) Set at the opulent Grand Hotel, there were few subtleties about Christophe Decarnin's latest admirable effort. It was royal Versailles opulence at its best, thanks to the designer's ode to royal tastes and sensibilities. Anna Selezneva opened the show with a violet feather-light fur coat and set the tone for the buffet of gold in every texture and variety. This fall collection was perhaps a tribute to the brand's flashiest consumers (from Moscow to Dubai), and after this parade ladies with a thirst for the ornate will be itching for more. Fall 2010 is also destined to be the most editorial and celebrity friendly Balmain collection yet (believe it!)--stylists’ phones started to buzz by the time the first few looks hit the runway.
