(NEW YORK) Anna Sui
Turning her back on the corporate world, Anna Sui focused on arts and crafts for her latest collection. Sui shaded Fall 2010 with earthy hues like mushroom, pomegranate, olive, wine, plum, and cornflower. “Forest Kaleidoscope” florals and “wine nouveau swirls” were mixed-and-matched with metallic jacquard knits, patterned tights, oversized fox fur vests, and faux shearling coats. Accessorizing the ensembles were Erickson Beamon tiled necklaces—each made from the reproduced works of Charles Rohlfs, an artist and designer during the Arts and Crafts Movement. Wrapping up the delightful show, were current muse (and new face of Anna Sui cosmetics) Agyness Deyn followed by Karen Elson—both in unconventional bridalwear. Could this be a new direction for our boho rock princess? We’re crossing our fingers!
3.1 Phillip Lim
Where will you find the 3.1 Pillip Lim girl hiding this season? According to Phillip Lim, she’ll be somewhere between disco and punk with a curious obsession for the baroque. How intriguing! Alexa Chung thought so; she occupied the front row, snapping her Polaroid camera more than once as models flew by in clean-cut, streamlined looks. Coats of all kinds—a tweed and shearling reversible toggle coat, a leather and giraffe-printed moto jacket, or a mink coat in buff—weighted the collection of flowing asymmetrical silks and disco-loving sequins. Lim’s look-at-me outerwear will likely be a high selling point for retail stores come fall.
