Runway Reviews: Aminaka Wilmont
(LONDON) Aminaka Wilmont
2007 Fashion Fringe winners Maki Aminaka Löfvander and Marcus Wilmont of Aminaka Wilmont have made their label a must-watch for those looking for strong, interesting pieces that are still easy to wear. For fall, the duo started with a series of organic silk jersey dresses in their signature abstract prints. Each cut was unique, with some draped around the body, twisted across the shoulders, one-sleeved, mini, and a mid-calf length that felt fresh. Solid dresses kept the draped look going, but a scattering of crystals made them just flashy enough for a fete. Knits served as perfectly cozy layering pieces anchored by wrapped and strapped super-narrow pants, but the real fall must-haves are the jackets, one in pieced-together leather, one cropped and lined with winter-white fur.
