Chado Ralph Rucci Runway Show Canceled
(NEW YORK) Looks like Phoebe Philo can expect company, albeit across the pond, on the Fashion Week sidelines this season. Today, Ralph Rucci canceled his February 12th runway show in favor of appointment-only presentations of his Chado Ralph Rucci collection at his mirrored showroom in SoHo. This is round two for Rucci who scrapped his ultra-decadent Spring 2011 runway in August 2010 when the company's former president, Vivian Van Natta, took a medical leave. Apres the early morning announcement, rumors circled concerning financial troubles, plus competition with Tommy Hilfiger for attendees, who was slated to begin Sunday at the same 8 p.m. time slot. Communications director (and Ralph's sister) Rosina Rucci nipped the curious chatter in the bud with an email to WWD. “Tommy’s audience is decidedly not ours. And cost is always a factor but [that] was not the driving force behind this decision.”
In other Rucci news, the February 8th premiere of A Quiet American: Ralph Rucci & Paris will go on as scheduled at the Academy Theater at Lighthouse International with Sandra Bernhard, Deeda Blair, and Rucci regular Carmen Dell’Orefice topping the star-studded guest list.
