Proenza Schouler Inks Footwear Deal With Iris SpA
(NEW YORK) Proenza Schouler is kicking it up a notch with a new licensing deal. Italy-based Iris SpA has signed on to manufacture and distribute the brand's footwear in an effort to relaunch and expand the company's shoe branch. Prior to the agreement, Proenza Schouler's toe-steppers were produced with the help of shoe designer Giuseppe Zanotti's company, Vicini SpA, which has a client roster that includes Giuseppe Zanotti Design, Balmain, Thakoon, Christopher Kane, and Delfina Delettrez. Iris SpA has the portfolio to rival Zanotti's luxury conglomerate with an equally strong client list comprised of Rodarte, Chloè, See by Chloè, Marc Jacobs, Jil Sander, Rochas, Michael Kors, Nina Ricci, and Veronique Branquinho.
In 2008, Proenza's Lazaro Hernandez and Jack McCollough debuted their shoe collection with a soft launch for Resort 2009 featuring a line-up of ballet slippers, loafers, and lace-up sandals that retailed between $300 and $3,000. The official footwear launch took place the following season for Spring/Summer 2009.
