Paris Spring 2013: Chloé, Maiyet
(PARIS) Chloé
A happy 60th anniversary indeed for Chloé! Culling from the house's archives and greatest hits but not slavishly so, Claire Waight Keller out-ruffled the rest of the Spring '13 labels getting in on the frilly action. If that peachy one-shouldered flouncy confection in look 12 is too saccharine for some (not us), there were voluminous cap sleeves of ruffles and plumes of metallic-tinged pleats to revel in. Other frill factors: rosettes cascading down a boxy pair of mustard trousers (those pants looked equally as desirable sans the texture-heavy flora!), stiff, sheer micropleats, and a mega-scaled floral print in B&W or rose gold, the latter of which strode out strongly thanks to an oversized T and breezy shorts combo. And those softly ruffled, sheer white shirts underpinning many a look? Simple yet brilliant.
Maiyet
Kicking off with an ethereal series of all-white looks, Spring '13 was an exercise in easy sensuality via muted silks, billowing skirts, and casually deep-cut necklines that amounted to a laisse faire lass. A woman with a enviable accessories eye (those entwined-strap heels in merlot, for starters, as well as the chunk necklaces that were especially fetching when paired with a duo of navy and cream dresses, with a pattern resembling an abstraction of giraffe print) as well. Waist cinchers comprised of interlocking duos and trios of contrasting hues was instant flattery (and quite striking in a poppy-on-teal pairing), and a slew of printed, loosely slung and cuffed shorts could sway even a gams-bearing-averse customer into joining the cropped crowd.
