Paris Fall 2011: Louis Vuitton, Miu Miu, Elie Saab

Kate Moss was the surprise of the show, emerging into the lobby of Marc Jacobs' hotel elevator set for Louis Vuitton, wearing a short black bodysuit with fur sleeves and a pair of bondage-style leather lace-up boots. Moss sauntered around the set with a cigarette hanging from her lip and attitude to spare, while the audience of press and buyers cheered on. Moss was a memorable finale to a super chic cast of fellow supermodel alumnae, Naomi Campbell, Amber Valletta, and Carolyn Murphy included, who brought an extra bit of star power to Jacobs' presentation. Wearing 13-inch heels, often in corsets and sporting extreme hour-glass figures sometimes topped with hotel bell-boy hats, this collection might possibly go down in Paris Fashion Week history—if only for the elevator alone.

Miu Miu
Miuccia Prada attracted a pretty group of front-row girls for her Miu Miu show, on the last day of Paris Fashion Week. Oscar nominated actress Hailee Steinfeld looked older than her 14 years next to Jennifer Lawrence, Mila Kunis and Ginnifer Goodwin. Prada was obviously having a Hollywood moment, straight from a 1940s production, as models walked the runway looking a little like a Rosalind Russell from the Cary Grant film His Girl Friday. They looked independent and savvy in boxy shouldered blazers with cinched waists and wide-shouldered dresses with fur stoles. Stefano Pilati, who sat front row with Jefferson Hack, looked to be enjoying the Hollywood ending.

For sheer glamour and glitz, who beats Lebanese designer Elie Saab? He delivered once again this season, with a gorgeous collection of red-carpet worthy dresses, sticking to a palette of dramatic blacks, rich burgundy, brilliant reds and neutrals like grey and beige. With so many evening pieces, skirts were fluttering and paillettes scintillated in the lights to a mix of music by Serge Gainsbourg, the crowd enjoyed a true Saab Parisienne moment. Daisy Lowe, who sat front row, was no doubt making a mental inventory of the dresses she wanted. She wasn't alone!
