(NEW YORK) Neiman Marcus and Bergdorf Goodman are welcoming a dapper young talent to their men’s selections—Matthew Singer has been named men’s fashion director for both luxury department stores. Singer, 32, formerly the associate men’s fashion director for the upscale division of Macy’s Inc. at Bloomingdale's, will be based in New York for his new position.

Singer started at Bloomingdale’s in October 2008. Prior to his foray into department store fashion direction, the University of Arizona spent four and a half years as men’s fashion director at Scoop. Singer’s predecessor, Nick Wooster, decamped from Neiman Marcus and BG in May 2011 after one year in the role, and was formerly creative services director for Splendid and Ella Moss, after beginning his career at Barneys. The tattooed and moustache-adorned fashion director has been called a “swag captain for menswear," is a street style staple, and even has a fan Tumblr in his honor that has endured since Wooster’s departure form his post. In June, Wooster was named a consulting fashion advisor for Gilt Man's Park & Bond; he has also consulted for clients like Thom Browne and MAC via his Wooster Consultancy outfit, founded six years ago.

Meanwhile, Singer began his new gig this week and he is “already off to Europe” for Pitti Uomo in Florence and the Fall ’12 shows in Milan, since the department store “love[s] a good baptism by fire.” Singer’s enthusiasm for his job certainly hasn’t waned since entering the industry eight years ago: "For me, the shows never get old! It always feels like it’s my first time,” Singer told Neiman Marcus’ "NM Daily" blog yesterday.
