(NEW YORK) Elettra Wiedemann’s glorious, fleeting NYFW venture—a pop-up helmed by a bevy of beloved, hip chefs from around the city—will be dishing up edible goodness through tomorrow at GOODNESS, housed in the prime Lincoln Center space usually occupied by Ed’s Chowder House. The Daily took a break from show-hopping to pop in for a chat with the wonderful Wiedemann! EDDIE ROCHE
So, what is this exactly?
It's a pop up concept called GOODNESS, with different venues and chefs every day that it's operating. We give people wholesome, healthy, delicious food—which is not something that happens very often during often fashion week! Our space across from Lincoln Center (44 West 63rd St.) was perfect. People are usually snacking on pretzels and donuts during fashion week...
We hear that; some of us may or may not have eaten a powdered donut for breakfast! How did the grand scheme for GOODNESS come about?
I went to the London School of Economics and my dissertation was about the future of feeding urban population. I finished that last year and I had to take a time out because my brain was on fire after exams and handing in my dissertation. I gave my brain a break, and decided to go for it.
What's the story with the spate of chefs?
We're featuring Chris Rendell of White Hall, Rob Newton of Seersucker, and Nick Wilbur of The Fat Radish. The menu is a combo of goodness, with a touch of badness.
Is there more goodness or badness in you?
I want to be goodness, but I think I'm badness; I want to be eating healthily this week, but I can't help but indulge in all these delicious dishes!
Who are some of the people popping in so far?
Prabal Gurung, Steven Kolb, June Ambrose, Laura Brown... And that was just on our first day.
Having Prabal come by is pretty cool!
