Michael Kors Makes Moves To The Financial District
(NEW YORK) Michael Kors is leading the pack in what will likely be the new downtown fashion mecca. Today it was announced that the designer will be opening a 1,700-square-foot retail space at Brookfield Place, formerly The World Financial Center. The news comes on the heels of Kors' recent announcement of the impending opening of a 17,000-square-foot retail opening in Soho, the brand's largest store in the world.
The Brookfield boutique will be an accessories only operation and is the first of what will likely be many marquee fashion names to open at the sprawling luxury center, which is undergoing a $250 million transformation. The space will open in June 2014 and span several blocks facing the 9/11 memorial. Westfield Group also signed a deal with The Port Authority to lease 365,000-square-feet of retail space at 4 World Trade Center and 3 World Trade Center and plans to lure in the luxe giants in addition to high-end supermarkets and restaurants. Fifth Avenue part deux? Fingers crossed!
