J.Crew Gets Frost-ed
(NEW YORK) Expect your December J.Crew catalog to look a lot more jeweled. The brand's latest collaboration, Lulu Frost for J.Crew, which fuses designer Lisa Salzer's vintage sensibilities with J.Crew’s iconic Americana, will debut for Holiday 2010. It took two serendipitous shopping trips to come up with the idea. “I had been in a California store called Ten Over Six about a year ago when I was home for Christmas, and I bought this amazing necklace," recalled the brand's president Jenna Lyons. "I said, ‘I work at J.Crew, would it be OK if I got in touch with the designer?'" Lyons' colleague Marissa Webb, women's design director, felt the exact same sentiment when she came across a Lulu Frost creation at a store on the Lower East Side.
Webb visited the Lulu Frost studio on Lafayette Street with the J.Crew team, and together, they selected timeless pieces from Salzer's extensive archives as the basis of the collection. Salzer then mixed the vintage pieces with more modern elements, resulting in suites of necklaces, bracelets and earrings created using handmade chains, antiqued glass crystals, and touches of 10-carat gold. Prices will range from about $75 for a pair of earrings to $175 for a necklace, and the pieces will be available both in-store and online.
