Is 2010 the Year of Tommy Hilfiger?
(NEW YORK) It’s already been a momentous year for Tommy Hilfiger, and the festivities are far from over. In March, Phillips-Van Heusen (the parent company of Calvin Klein) acquired the company to the tune of $3 billion. Assouline is publishing a commemorative tome to commemorate the brand’s 25th anniversary. And now, Pratt Institute is bestowing its highest honor on Hilfiger himself at Legends 2010, the school’s annual scholarship benefit. Last year, Marc Jacobs was toasted, alongside Patti Smith and architect David Rockwell. In 2008, Takashi Murakami, Julian Schnabel, and Barbaralee Diamonstein-Spielvogel took home the Institute's awards.
On Wednesday, October 20, Hilfiger will be honored with artist Ellsworth Kelly and philanthropist Emily Fisher Landau at a dinner and awards ceremony at 7 World Trade Center. The celebration is sure to be a memorable one for Hilfiger and his family, but it's not the only one in the works this fall. On September 12, during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, Hilfiger will host a blowout bash in honor of the brand's 25th anniversary bash. Mark those calendars!
