(NEW YORK) IMG has a new power player in the house. Catherine Bennett has been tapped as senior vice president and managing director of IMG Fashion Events and Properties, replacing Peter Levy, who spent over a dozen years with the company. Also decamping from IMG: Alison Levy, global director of marketing and communications, who'd been with the company on and off since 2006.
Bennett was previously the head of business affairs at the CFDA. During her four-year tenure with the org, Bennett handled all operations and activities for the CFDA's 400 American apparel and accessories designers. As a result, Bennett comes to her new IMG gig addled with an understanding of designers' needs and aspirations, especially in regards to New York Fashion Week. Prior to the CFDA, Bennett was at William Morris Agency's NYC office as a business affairs executive, a capacity in which she negotiated everything from rights acquisition agreements, technology and new media, and license and partnership agreements. She was also a media relations consultant to Central Park's Summer Stage series of concerts and events, and an account manager in Hill & Knowlton's Art and Entertainment division. On top of it all, Bennett is a member of the New York State Bar and has a J.D. degree from Georgetown University Law Center.
"We are pleased to have an executive with Catherine's experience as the new head of IMG fashion events and properties," said Chuck Bennett, president of IMG Golf, Tennis Fashion and Events and Federations. "She has a deep knowledge of the fashion industry and a keen appreciation for established and emerging designers." While there's no word yet on Bennett's official start date, IMG told The Daily that she will begin her post in the next few weeks.
