Flower Bombs Over Meurice
(PARIS) Just when you thought that the Meurice couldn’t get any more happening on your average Thursday night, Viktor Horsting and Rolf Snoeren proved us all wrong as they filled their favorite hotel’s ballroom with pink orchids, fountains of champagne, and most distinctively, Grace Jones. The duo celebrated the 5th Anniversary of their fragrance, Flowerbomb, and it was undeniable that someone like Jones could still get those digital cameras itching with excitement. “Isn’t she almost like 62?” wondered Renzo Rosso as he took in the performance. “I think everyone would want to have legs like hers in that age. I know I do!”
Other clearly impressed admirers included Gareth Pugh, Jessica Stam, Lou Doillon, Annelise Peterson, Ellen Von Unwerth, Stefano Tonchi, Joan Smalls, and Liya Kebede. “Grace is like a fantasy woman for me,” gushed Kebede. “But I was disappointed that she only performed two songs. Can we drag her out on stage again?” But as Jones departed into the night with the Dutch duo, the guests just had to deal with a very elaborate Flowerbomb perfume box-shaped birthday cake.
Alex de Betak, who helped organize the perfume’s launch at Saks and on the Paris runway five years ago, was just a happy spectator this time around. “I helped book Grace,” he said. “But other than that, I just came here to enjoy the spectacle. I don’t think I could do all these fashion shows and then parties all in one season and stay sane.” Karolina Kurkova, meanwhile, enjoyed the last few hours of freedom before arrival of her son, Tobin, to Paris. “After two years, Fashion Week feels so different to me,” she offered. “I’m waiting for my baby to arrive and it basically will be his first trip to Europe. That’s already a Paris highlight for me!”
