(NEW YORK) Levi’s
Getting dressed…..in denim. Levi’s showcased its first ever global collection at Mercer 82 on Wednesday, and the ritual of getting dressed was the inspiration du jour. These aren’t your casual day Levi’s; the looks were surprisingly tailored and refined as jeans took on a dressier approach. It was a rhapsody in blue on the runway, with all kinds of denim offerings like a skinny bootcut, a wide trouser-like pant, down home overalls, jumpers, and skirts, both mini and maxi.  Men’s looks had a more relaxed fit, with shorter and cuffed lengths, including some electric colorways--pants in tomato red, ginger, and cobalt. Front row celebs who peeped this study in denim included Maria Menounos, Brad Goreski, Harley Viera Newton, Theophilus London, and Zachary Levi.

GANT by Michael Bastian
A winter eve in eighties Boston with a college kid, a cool mod girl, and her boxer boyfriend was the starting point for GANT by Michael Bastian. Pretty in Pink, Raging Bull, and Stranger than Fiction were projected on the walls, against an eighties Mod band soundtrack and a little help from a couple street lamps and a snow machine. As for the clothes? It was all about the layers, cheris. Preppy knits, tweeds, stripes, cargo pants, beanies, duck boots all made a strong showing. It felt like taking a nostalgic stroll around campus, albeit a particularly stylish one.

Elie Tahari
Color, color, and more color! Elie Tahari didn't shy away from a rich palette in his ultra-wearbale Fall collection. Hosted in an informal setting at the brand's showroom, real women modeled the latest office-ready looks, each one a study in jewel-toned monochrome. “It’s a party. We wanted people to be up close to the clothes this year,” said Tahari to The Daily. And up close we got, observing the mixed textures of tone on tone atop everyday trousers and billowing blouses. The new neutrals: blue, red, and purple! "I was thinking about beauty, love, light, and quality. Subtle details,” explained Tahari. Color us pleased.
