Elle Senior Fashion News Editor Nick Axelrod Goes Into The Gloss
(NEW YORK) Nick Axelrod, senior fashion news editor at Elle, is bidding adieu to the Hearst glossy to take up a freshly-created post as editorial director at Into The Gloss. After over a year and a half working under Anne Slowey's direction at the mag, Axelrod will begin the new stint working alongside the beauty blog's creator and editor, Emily Weiss, on Monday.
In 2007, Axelrod and Weiss shared an office floor as assistants at WWD and W, respectively; at the time, the two publications still shared some staffers and content. Axelrod segued at WWD from his initial capacity of editorial assistant in the fashion department to become media reporter for the newspaper's Memo Pad section. The Brown grad joined the Elle masthead in September 2010; in January 2012, Axelrod was promoted to senior fashion news editor at the title.
Since mid-April, half of Elle.com's staff has decamped, including editorial director Keith Pollock, art director Stephanie Jones, fashion news editor Britt Aboutaleb (the former two are en route to Du Jour; Aboutaleb is headed to Who What Wear). Axelrod's successor has not yet been announced.
