Dundas Out at Revillon
(PARIS) Peter Dundas has left his post as creative director at Revillon, The Daily has confirmed. He will continue to serve as creative director at Pucci.
Dundas held the position at Revillon since January 2008, presenting his first collection just weeks later for the Fall 2008 season; prior to joining the furrier, he spent two seasons as the creative head of Emanuel Ungaro. It was in September of 2008 that Dundas was appointed the new artistic director of Pucci (taking over for Matthew Williamson), and he presented his first collection for Fall 2009. Dundas has had great critical success at Pucci; his sexy dresses and spot-on accessories (recently seen on the likes of Kate Hudson) have garnered similar editorial and commercial triumphs as the now-ubiquitous Balmainia. “Mr. Dundas raised the tone at Pucci,” wrote Cathy Horyn on Monday in her New York Times review of the Pucci Fall 2010 collection. “Ultra-slim trousers with a high waist and shown with cropped leather jackets or a classic blazer were a smashing new addition.”
Revillon was originally established in 1723 as Revillon Frères, a French fur and luxury goods company. Rick Owens was tapped as creative director of the company in 2003 but departed in 2006 after the company was acquired by Yves Salomon, which has also licensed furs for Oscar de la Renta, Sonia Rykiel, Karl Lagerfeld, and Paule Ka. Revillon has remained mum despite repeated attempts for comment, although several possible Dundas successors have been floated. Balmain’s Christophe Decarnin is among the names rumored to be replacing him. Alessandro Dell'Acqua, whose eponymous line shuttered last year, has been also suggested as a possible contender due to his strength in furs. While Revillon will not present this season, Yves Salomon, president of the company, will show his fur collection at the end of March.
