Diesel's Renzo Rosso Buys Marni Stake
(NEW YORK) Diesel chief Renzo Rosso has finally secured a deal with Marni. Today, the Italian head honcho, along with Marni founders Gianni Castiglioni and his wife, creative director Consuelo Castiglioni, gathered journos for a press conference in Milan to announce Only The Brave, Rosso's holding company, acquired a majority stake in the brand. Thus far, Only The Brave's portfolio includes Viktor & Rolf and Maison Martin Margiela, as well as Staff International, which produces and distributes Just Cavalli, Vivienne Westwood, DSquared2, and Marc Jacobs.
"I am satisfied of the agreement reached with OTB," Gianni Castiglioni said at the press conference. "This is an extraordinary opportunity of further development for our company, whilst preserving the brand's identity and the entrepreneurial spirit of our family."
Financial details are still under wraps, but the company's hierarchy has been set. Rosso will become Marni's co-CEO, along with Gianni Castiglioni, who has helmed the brand since its inception in 1994.
"Marni represents exactly the concept of fashion I would love to see associated with OTB—a style that's unique, recognizable, individual, fresh and modern; an international outlook," said Rosso during the conference this morning. "I have an incredible respect for Consuelo's talent and I am sure that the association between her creative vision and the support and know-how of OTB will take Marni to new, incredible goals."
