Departures Debuts Home + Design Offshoot Title

(NEW YORK) Departures' next arrival is landing much closer to home than its usual global jetsetter-skewed fare: The American Express Publishing glossy will unveil Departures Home + Design. The debut issue will hit the toniest mailboxes come May 2013, along with the May/June issue of Departures proper. Home + Design offers readers of the closed-circ mag an additional dose of Departures with an expanded frequency of eight instead of seven issues annually. Expect coverage of architecture, design, home furnishings, and entertaining—and, as this is indeed a Departures imprint, some "objets d’art" in the mix.

"This is definitely not a magazine about mansions—what a constricted old fashion notion of high-end living," said Richard David Story, editor-in-chief of Departures, in a statement. According to publisher Steve DeLuca, Departures Home + Garden was "created for readers who are the ultimate luxury design enthusiasts – we’ve been blown away by their continuous outstanding feedback about their insatiable passion for our home design content." 

However, Departures Home + Design will reach more eyes than just the title's exclusive, cardholders-only readership; the issue, which is Departures' inaugural brand extension, will be distributed to a circulation of 500,000 targeted in cities with chic design scenes, including consumers and designers alike.
