(NEW YORK) Constance White has been named editor-in-chief of Time Inc.'s Essence, the company announced today. She succeeds Angela Burt-Murray, who left the magazine in November and moved to Atlanta with her family. White, a veteran fashion editor, most recently served as style director and brand consultant for eBay. Previously, she was as founding fashion editor at Talk and served as a style reporter for the New York Times and the executive fashion director at Elle. In related news, Marcia Ann Gillespie, the former editor of Essence who assisted in the recent search, has been named special project director at the magazine.
