(NEW YORK) Condé publisher shuffles alert! After InStyle publisher Connie Anne Phillips parted ways with the Time Inc. title last month, word had it that Phillips would be returning to her old 4 Times Square stomping grounds, where she spent an impressive 14 years at Vogue. The rumors are true: Phillips will become part of the Condé crowd once again on July 8, when she assumes the role of VP and publisher of Glamour. Phillips' predecessor, Bill Wackermann, most recently held the title of EVP and publisher at Glamour; he's helmed the glossy's publishing team since 2004. Wackermann will now move to Conde Nast Traveler, also on July 8, to fill the shoes of Carolyn Kremins, who segued over to fellow Condé property Epicurious.com last week.
“This is a homecoming for me — I’m elated to reconnect with my friends and talented colleagues at Condé Nast, one of the most influential media companies in the world,” said Phillips in a statement. Phillips' former editorial counterpart during her Vogue years (and current Condé artistic director), Anna Wintour, even weighed in on the hire via company statement. "Vogue benefited for many years from Connie Anne’s astute business sense...It is wonderful to have her back at Condé Nast helping to lead another one of our important fashion brands.” And as for Phillips' soon-to-be EIC partner in newsstand success, Cindi Leive? “Connie Anne will be a terrific addition to Glamour and a great partner," Leive said in the same statement.
Back in February, The Daily chatted with Phillips for our Media Issue about her blockbuster four-year run at InStyle. A few tricks in her ad-luring arsenal: "I’m an ‘optimistic catastropher’; I lie awake at night coming up with solutions for worst-case scenarios." Duly noted. Phillips is also big on enlisting a strong publishing posse: "Hire really top talent—it’s all about my team," she told The Daily. Any guesses on the publishing wunderkinds or established, sensational sellers Phillips will bring on board at Glamour?
