Choo 24:7
(NEW YORK) “Once I fell off the side of a boat in my Jimmy Choos...in the Mediterranean,” confessed Jimmy Choo founder and president Tamara Mellon. Did she lose her shoes in the process? “No!” she squealed. “They stayed on. Can you believe it?” Steve Sadove, Saks Fifth Avenue Chairman and CEO, and Harper’s Bazaar Editor-in-Chief Glenda Bailey threw the bash on the retailer's legendary 10022-shoe floor to celebrate Mellon’s updated must-haves along with the collection's red-carpet favorites.
Modeling nude heels from the new collection, Brooke Shields talked about her preferred way to spend the proverbial 24/7. “I would smell my children and have my husband near me telling me, it was okay,” professed the actress. “I’m obsessed with my work but I’d choose the smell of my children. Is that vapid? No, it’s not vapid.” Jessica Szohr chimed in, “I’d eat French fries. But only if I couldn’t gain a ton of weight and it wasn’t so bad for me because I love them and they’re so good.” There weren’t any French fries on hand, however--teeny tiny grilled cheese triangles and teeny tiny French pastries hit the spot.
Weaving through the crowd, guests got a chance to view the glitzy line up close while Alexandra Richards recalled her first pair of Choos. “They’re leopard and fur, pointy, three inch high heels. I wear the same pair over and over again,” she said. With Keith Richards and Patti Hansen as parents, she no doubt had the pick of the lot. “Yeah, I’d wear my mom’s black, shiny Manolo Blahniks and my dad’s vintage boots from the 80’s too. They don’t even fit me. I used to think they looked amazing,” she giggled. “They did not. But, Jimmy Choos were the first designer piece I ever bought when I was younger. I still have them."
