A Yurman Family Affair

(NEW YORK) “We were supposed to have a hurricane one year, but it always clears up, and it’s beautiful!” laughed the eternally lucky David Yurman, basking in the sun on his Tribeca rooftop last night for his brand’s annual summer fête—stormy weather forecast be damned! “We’ve done this four years running.” While Yurman’s flacks were breathing a collective sigh of relief that the clouds didn’t open up, guests like models Sessilee Lopez, Irina Shayk, and Heide Lindgren enjoyed champers, mini meatball sliders, and the gorgeous view over the Hudson.
In honor of the summertime revelry, Yurman shared one of his favorite warm-weather activities (other than imbibing on beautiful rooftops, that is): riding his horses in Long Island. The designer, who’s been an equestrian for 30 years, is the proud owner of three horses. “One’s in Florida, and his name is Chicken Enchilada, but he’s also known as Cluck. The others are Mister Scooter, and I just bought a horse in Tennessee called I’m the Man in Command,” he shared. “I bought him because he has a sense of humor. He rides beautifully, but he’s also funny. You can do anything to him: pull his tail, tickle him! He’s a pet horse.”
Of course, with talk of pets and Yurman’s wife Sybil and son Evan on hand, the affair was more than a little familial—a sentiment echoed by guest Kelly Rutherford, who dished on her darling children. “My daughter’s 13 or 14 months now, so she’s walking around, and my son is Batman or Spiderman every day. And I’m someone new—I’m Catwoman or Wonder Woman or something. It’s so much fun.” The real-life and TV mom also brought her own mother, Ann Edwards, to the party, and the two blonds spent the evening with Kelly Rowan, whom you may remember as yet another TV mom (before Gossip Girl, there was The OC). “His pieces really stand the test of time,” said Rutherford on the evening’s host. “And it’s such a wonderful family!”
