Ralph Lauren - New York Fall 2009
(NEW YORK) There's a reason that Ralph Lauren is a titan of American fashion, and once again, he delivered beautifully with a Fall collection that tread a fine line between appeasing a hungry customer and encouraging her to chart new territories. There were pantsuits and vests galore, rendered in luxe tweeds and topped with wrapped, feathery chiffon scarves. But the eveningwear was particularly accomplished, with a sculptural column rendered in a gold lame that stopped shining for only a moment to reveal a hint of a floral pattern. Several striking black gowns could've been designed with Angelina Jolie in mind. Overall, the effect was a modernized look at Lauren's trademarked aesthetic. So much to love!
