PPQ - London Spring 2009
(LONDON) Designers Amy Molyneaux and Percy Parker's PPQ show was one of the first to kick off London Fashion Week, and their spirit was quintessentially English with a show entitled "Le Style Anglais." The front row was brimming with British bright young things including Henry Holland, Peaches and Pixie Geldof, Lady Victoria Hervey, Alexa Chung, and model Ben Grimes . Russell Simmons even made a front-row cameo, and Daisy Lowe walked the show. The designers divided their collection into five distinct groups: Hector, a nod to 50s-'0s feminine dressing with easy pastel-colored separates accessorized with pillbox hats and hot pink specs; Rhombus, a square group embracing a nautical theme; Upsilon, which featured slightly OTT evening wear; Hedron, a group emphasizing curves and circles, like ruffles accentuating necklines or embellishing sleeves; and Zeladon, sheer tight pieces highlighting the silhouette through cut and fabric. The girl who loves to play dress-up with exaggerated accessories like an oversized net hairpiece and gargantuan earrings would have a field day dressing these easy shapes up, down, and all around.
