Reem Acra - Bridal Fall 2008
(NEW YORK) A whimsically stage collection (set to Edith Piaf tunes) and dubbed “D’reem’land” by the designer had Reem Acra introducing a brand new veil concept. Fastened by hooks to a beaded belt affixed to the back of the waist, the gauze fabric acts as a second train over the duchesse satin, creating extra allure. And for the traditional bride, the fabric can be tossed up and over the head to create a conservative veil. “[This is] something with a little more oomph,” the designer noted. “I envisioned the evolution of a wedding dress 30 years after its walk down the aisle, with the models like little girls evoking a mischievous quality, playing dress up with their mother’s wedding gowns.” Ball gowns were the centerpiece of the collection, with yards and yards of luxurious duchesse satin in ivory heavily embellished around the waist and on the train. “I took everything that made me famous and modernized,” Acra said proudly.
