Veronika Jeanvie - Mercedes-Benz L.A. Fashion Week Fall 2008
(LOS ANGELES) Roll Call: André Leon Talley, Kelis, Dania Ramirez, Nick Chavez, Mary Carey, Ruby Stewart
Chic Report: When Veronika Jeanvie told us that her inaugural L.A. Fashion Week show was inspired by the colors of the sea, we were surprised. Consulted on by the iconic Paco Rabanne, there was a distinct mermaid aspect, to be sure, but the collection--a tribute to iridescent fabrics and rhinestones--was sending a strong Disco-Barbie-meets-Cher message as well. Memorable moments included a metallic silver short-set with chain mail accents, a midriff-baring, silver-trimmed black mini-dress, a bell-bottomed spandex hologram jumpsuit (whoa!), and a series of skimpy bikini tops paired with hot pants attached to billowing skirts.
