Yves Saint Laurent - Paris Fall 2008
(PARIS) Roll Call: Julianne Moore, Camilla Al Fayed, Elizabeth Saltzman, Kanye West, Alexis Phifer, Anna Wintour, Glenda Bailey, Carine Roitfeld, Kate Betts, Robbie Myers, Joe Zee, L'Wren Scott, Charlotte Stockdale. Shutterbug alert: Mario Sorrenti, Mario Testino, Patrick Demarchelier
Chic Report: Stefano Pilati produced a hit for YSL this season, as models marched out in pin-straight short black wigs with matching, and fetching, noir lips. The clothes were all about "cut," according to Pilati. The focus was on volume through the stiff jackets and coats in a variety of shapes, cuts, and colors. Dropped waists and uplifted arm openings redefined the center of gravity. Post-show, the audience was rapturous. "I thought it was incredibly modern--everything from the space to the clothes had a certain kind of easiness to them, like the girls just threw them on," said Anne Christensen. Terence Koh had another motive. "I desperately need one of those black wigs!" the artist exclaimed. "I texted Stefano to meet him tomorrow so I can get one."
