Jean Paul Gaultier - Paris Fall 2008
(PARIS) Roll Call: Michael Roberts, Stephen Gan, Glenda Bailey, Carine Roitfeld, Virginia Smith, Linda Fargo
Chic Report: Jean Paul Gaultier’s fall collection had a "Thriller"-meets-The Big Bad Wolf feel--so much so, that the show’s soundtrack was a hilariously literal recording of "Thriller" featuring baaing lambs in the background. Each look was more untamed and feral than the last, from faux tiger-skinned coats and leather maxi jackets to fur hats and pelts galore. Breaking slightly from the theme were a deco-ish bronze evening gown, a moss-green cocktail frock, and a series of pretty knits. “This was a special show,” said Vogue Italia’s Franca Sozzani. “It was wild and hectic, and the music was mixed in with the attitude of the collection!” Front-rower Catherine Deneuve was similarly charmed, raving, “It was exquisite, it was wonderful, it was our dear Jean Paul!”
