Missoni - Milan Fall 2008
(MILAN) Roll Call: Glenda Bailey, Stephen Gan, Cathy Horyn, Joe Zee, Anne Slowey, Anna Piaggi, Suzy Menkes, Michael Roberts, Anna Wintour
Chic Report: The dripping-in-glamour 1939 film The Women was Angela Missoni's inspiration this season, and oh, how it showed, culminating in a collection that was more grown up than ever. Heavy on sumptuous, Old-Hollywood luxury and structured looks, the collection included impeccably tailored grey slacks, floral-print wraps, glorious furs, dainty shrunken cardigans, and a gauzy, bejeweled evening gown that left even the most jaded editrixes gawking. "It was so glamorous," raved Dazed & Confused's Jefferson Hack, who certainly knows glamorous (hello, Anouck?). "It was like watching characters from an old Italian movie!" Meanwhile, an ecstatic Charla Lawhon said, "I'm trying to figure out how I can wear one of those wraps!"
