Christopher Kane - London Fall 2008
(LONDON) Roll Call: Camilla Al-Fayed, Bee Shaffer, Erin O'Connor, Liya Kebede (walking)
Chic Report: The exuberant, aggressively sexy looks that have characterized Christopher Kane's first three seasons were nowhere to be found Tuesday. Instead, it was all mood: cashmere knits, oversized ponchos, cable-knit dresses over leather pants and then...sequins. They were big and anything but bawdy, obscured underneath chiffon tanks or lining the underside of an arm. Sexy it wasn't, at least not in the ultrashort, ultracolorful, ultrabare dresses that have defined Kane's career thus far. While it feels almost wrong to call it commercial, there's no doubt that this stuff will sell. "It was amazing," gasped Bee Shaffer. There was nary an unbeliever in sight.
