Amanda Wakeley - London Fall 2008
(LONDON) Roll Call: M.I.A.
Chic Report: Calling the '80s high-powered woman: all heavy make-up, thigh-high boots, body-con dresses, and lots of confidence. That is an unusual sight for Amanda Wakeley, the darling of London's high society, known for her soft silhouettes in the form of airy, satin, floor-sweeping dresses. This season, although staying true to her values of femininity and sophistication, she went for a shocking change in proportion and attitude. Cue here an array of slinky knee-length coats with big fur trimmings, structured knee-length dresses in black or graphite, belted mohair jackets, and cigarette trousers, all worn with opaque tights and big hair. For night she decided to rev up the image even more by showing rock chicks in floor-sweeping and knee-length chiffon dresses, adorned with metallic studs in dramatic emeralds and purples.
