Luca Luca - Pre-Fall 2008
(NEW YORK) Luca Luca's Pre-Fall 2008 collection incorporated basic elements of Japonisme with asymmetrical designs, draping, strong clean lines, folds, and textures. Floral details abounded in beaded motifs and embellishments. "We were inspired by old Japanese prints; they are melancholic without having a vintage feeling," said designer Luca Orlandi of the blossom appliqués and origami pleat details. Rust, ocean blue, teal, black, silver, and grey created a relaxed and elegant aesthetic. "We wanted to step out of our color comfort zone; it's very important to evolve," said Orlandi. Touches of fur served as a luxe detail; a rust double-breasted wool and cashmere coat was adorned with a red fox shawl collar for chic warmth, while a black silk brocade shift was trimmed in sable.
