Zac Posen - Pre-Fall 2008
(NEW YORK) Zac Posen presented his first pre-fall collection Tuesday in his Tribeca showroom. Surrounded by festive Christmas trees and gingerbread houses, the designer explained his inspiration--"ballet and French poodles." Their influence abounded in pink hues and feminine satins. Blush pink, plum, and charcoal colors and tropical wools added an airy feel to the collection. Prints included zibeline and large-scale jacquard flowers. Military details and cavalry twill had a distinctly Zac Posen feel. This season added a new evening length for transitioning from day through night with class. The construction on skirts and jackets with the addition of a hoodie were elegant and powerful with an ironic sense of ease. Posen described a blush pink dress with lace as "half first lady, half Courtney Love." Unique touches like velvet zippers, lace overlays, and Pico-edge lingerie details added romance to the collection. "Its all about emotional dressing," said Posen.
