Giorgio Armani - Milan Spring Fashion Week 2008
(MILAN) Giorgio Armani took us to sea with his Spring 2008 collection, using a palette of tropical water colors to evoke his inspiration this season, the South of Italy and Pantelleria, where he has a house. Armani fused light and deep shadows, mixing natural earth tones of beige, putty, and grey with translations of lava black and palm green. Long, sheer gowns and tunics with bright floral accents and fringes were boho chic, while a plunging v-neck bustier dress brought a mermaid to life. For evening, gowns of varying necklines remained long and glamorous. Pleats, knots, and dashes added a soft ease and fluidity to the collection while beaded detail, crystal adornment, and embroidery added sparkle and pizzazz. He also relied heavily on the shawl--sheer, woven, or metallic--to complete his looks, both for day and night.
