Nathan Jenden - London Fashion Week Spring 2008

(LONDON) The title of Nathan Jenden's second London collection was She, taken from a Victorian book, but he also referred to inspiration from "Aztec priestesses and mad Mexican empresses" in his show notes. Although those references were tough to find in the sea of majestic froth that Jenden presented, the female certainly prevailed and the wrap-dresses Jenden designs for Diane von Furstenberg by day were nowhere to be found. Bows--on necks, around waists, on hats, even enveloping shoes--leg-o'-mutton sleeved blouses, multi-layered skirts with petticoats, and baby-doll dresses in pristine whites gave the collection ultra-girly touches. A white blazer and black slim trouser combo were feminized by a hot pink oversized ruffled collar around the neck, and a simple LBD was given a touch of the Victorian with white ruffs around the sleeves. The evening looks stuck to the same silhouette but were dressed up with metallic silvers and gold leaf.
