Aquascutum - London Fashion Week Spring 2008
(LONDON) Aquascutum designers Michael Herz and Graeme Fidler presented a fresh feminine Spring 2008 collection that felt like a garden in full bloom. Grey served as the "it" color this season with soft tones of blue, pink, yellow, green, red, black and white keeping things far from dull, while color-blocking gave tailored looks a retro-modern feel. Coats were beautifully constructed with subtle detailing; particularly striking were a grey belted version and white paisley trench. Dresses in asymmetrical and straight silhouettes struck a delicate balance. A silk shantung shift in gradations of blue was a soft take on a classic, while a pink jumper gave the collection a sportier feel. Oversized shirts and T-shirt dresses were far from sloppy and provided a young approach to wardrobe staples. Though one or two looks seemed inspired by doctor's scrubs and would fit better in the E.R. than on the runway, overall the collection evoked a carefree, elegant spirit.-
