(NEW YORK) The Daily has seen several cuts of The September Issue, and suffice it to say that the one in theatres left out a few juicy scenes. More reason, then, to check out the DVD, a 2-disc extravaganza which will be released on February 23, 2010. For the suggested retail price of $29.98, the DVD features never-before-seen deleted scenes and audio commentary with director R.J. Cutler as well as a photo gallery. Expect even more exploration of the Wintour/Coddington relationship, as well as new scenes featuring Karl Lagerfeld, Thakoon Panichgul, Vera Wang, Jean Paul Gaultier and more.

And as Valentino: The Last Emperor, which grossed approximately $2 million, has also proven, documentaries are shaping up to be bigger business than one might have expected. The September Issue grossed $4 million domestically and another $4 million internationally. Food Inc., which is expected to be the Oscar frontrunner in this category, has grossed approximately $4.5 million worldwide.
