Yes He Khan
(NEW YORK) "HSN" and "QVC" have emerged as industry buzzwords, signifying a serious influx of cash for participating designers and a potential new revenue stream for those in need. The latest bold-faced name to create an exclusive line for HSN is none other than Naeem Khan, who does a booming business selling 4 and 5-figure gowns to celebrities, royals, and other assorted lovelies in need of a serious dress. His "Timeless" collection, which was unveiled in New York with a cocktail party at his Garment District studio on October 19, hit the airwaves ten days later. "I had a wonderful time with this," said Khan. "It was just as fun to design as it is to wear and the idea that glamour should be easy and ‘timeless’ really resonated with both the HSN team and the customer."
On October 29 at 8 p.m., the Timeless Naeem Khan collection, consisting of 10 styles, reached audiences when the designer made his first appearance on the network. The Daily wondered--how did it sell? Phenomenally, it turns out. According to HSN, seven styles sold out less than 10 minutes after introduction. The solid sequin v-neck dress, Khan's favorite piece priced at $499.90, sold out in 3 minutes. (See below for the complete statistics.) "The collection instantly connected with the HSN customer, which I think is because the customer recognized that it was based on elegant, chic shapes," said Khan. "Timeless rather than trendy. And the prices fit the bill." All the styles were produced by Khan and then supplied to HSN, ensuring a high level of quality. Several pieces remain available online, as a certain number of items are reserved exclusively for e-commerce sales.
For the next incarnation, expect a much wider selection of items. "We were expecting the reaction to be positive, but it was above and beyond," said Khan. "The show had to be cut short because we sold out! This really speaks to the potential and the power of HSN."
