(NEW YORK) This has been a big week for Renzo Rosso. The Only the Brave founder and Diesel head honcho not only won the corporate leadership award last week at the Fashion Group International’s Night of Stars, and now the the blogosphere has been abuzz that Rosso, whose Staff International runs Maison Martin Margiela, is very close to naming a new designer of the house. (It was at the time of the Margiela Spring 2010 show in Paris in October that Rosso finally confirmed the fashion industry’s longtime suspicions that Margiela himself was no longer designing.) A Twitter entry from T Magazine’s Horacio Silva on Friday read, “Just had a chat with Diesel’s Renzo Russo [sic] who says he is thisclose to naming a new designer at Martin Margiela.” The next post read, “Russo stressed that Martin Margiela will continue to be involved with his namesake label, albeit at a distance.”

In other Staff International News, reports that Rosso might have an interest in IT Holdings’ Ittierre (responsible for the licensing and production of brands like Just Cavalli, CNC Costume National, Gianfranco Ferré, and Versace Sport) have been denied. After filing for bankruptcy protection in February, Ittierre has recently sought more funding (in addition to the $44 million in credit it received following the bankruptcy filing), and insiders are speculating that the company may break up the fashion group--or sell. Rumors flew that Rosso was considering a bid, but Italian busness news group Il Sole 24 ORE reported that, according to Rosso, Ittierre is an “interesting business,” but that it would “replicate Rosso’s existing activities.”
