Bergdorf’s High-Tech Windows
(NEW YORK) Generally, Bergdorf Goodman’s windows are filled with Alaïa, Marc Jacobs, and Oscar de la Renta--not Dell (the electronics, that is). But the haute department store has teamed up with the computer brand for its current window display after D.L. & Co. creative director Douglas Little created a series of limited-edition Adamo laptop skins. “Tales of Technology” mixes Little’s signature Edwardian, Asian, and rock and roll influences for a high-fashion, high tech display along Fifth Avenue; the laptops share the space with pieces by Alexander McQueen, Lanvin, Giambattista Valli, Naeem Khan, Gianfranco Ferré, and more.
“Adamo means to fall in love and after reviewing the seductive craftsmanship and attention to detail of the Adamo, I too began to ‘fall in love,’” said Little. “I wanted to create a provocative and subversive spin on this love story that visually bridged the gap between fashion, technology and the avant-garde.” The five windows’ themes are Web Master/Master the Web, featuring Swarovski crystal spiders; Reshaping Technology, featuring a corseted laptop; The Princess and the PC; Seduce the Senses, inspired by a 19th century opium den; and Divine Design, inspired by the idea of Russian nesting dolls. In addition, Little has designed a series of jewelry windows that pair the sparkly baubles with the laptops. The Douglas Little-designed display will be up until November 9.
