Go Go Gucci Go
(NEW YORK) It's been a whirlwind trip to New York for Gucci creative director Frida Giannini. Last night, she was awarded the FGI's Design Star honor by none other than close friend Mary J. Blige. (Her other illustrious dates? James Franco, Mark Ronson, and Evan Rachel Wood.) Yesterday morning, Giannini toasted the opening of the Mary J. Blige Center for Women in Yonkers.
And tonight, of course, is the haute cocktail party to kick off the new Gucci Icon pop-up store at 43 Crosby Street. (Expect lines, wear flats.) Giannini and Ronson will unveil the Gucci Ronson sneaker to a crowd of Usher, James Franco, Claire Danes, Wyclef Jean, Evan Rachel Wood, Mischa Barton, Giambattista Valli, Peaches Geldof, Jimmy Fallon, Zoe Cassavetes, Michael Pitt and Jamie Bochert, Charlotte Ronson, Julia Restoin Roitfeld, Leigh Lezark, Fabiola Beracasa, Alexa Chung, and Poppy Delevingne.
Those who aren't able to brave the champagne-fueled spectacular from 7:30 to 9:30 will surely hit up the after-party at the Bowery Hotel, which is guaranteed to rage until the morning hours. The Crosby Street shop will be open for two weeks before moving to Miami’s Design District, coinciding with Art Basel Miami Beach and Design Miami. In 2010, Gucci Icon-Temporary will move to London and Tokyo. Giannini, meanwhile, will jet back to Milan on Saturday. Darling, don't forget to hydrate!
