From Baubles to Books

(PARIS) Tom Binns is having a mass moment thanks to Michelle Obama, but the notoriously cheeky (and just as notoriously brilliant) accessory designer does not appear primed for a fast-fashion collaboration anytime soon. The designer unveiled his latest collection at his Paris showroom today, featuring the crystal and pearl pieces known and beloved by many. But come January, the designer will stage an exhibition at Colette consisting of mostly the pieces in his "objet trouvée" series, inspired by the work of Marcel Duchamp. Each work features whimsical takes on found objects, such as Barbie shoes. Binns will create a limited-edition signed booklet to be displayed along with the works, which will be fêted with an event during couture week. Binns' work is sold exclusively at Colette in Paris; New York distribution consists of his boutique on Perry Street as well as Bergdorf Goodman.
